Born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 1962, Erik Reinhold has lived in Costa Rica since 1993 and is a legal resident.
Since founding Reinhold y Asociados in 1995, he has represented private investors, landowners, developers, and international organizations in projects involving real estate, forestry, environmental management, asset recovery, due diligence, crisis management, and sustainable development.
With more than thirty years of experience working throughout Costa Rica, he has successfully guided clients through complex legal, environmental, financial, and operational challenges while protecting their investments.
Represented several U.S. landowners experiencing squatter occupations. Working with government authorities and the U.S. Embassy, successfully negotiated the recovery of more than 100 hectares of land and secured clear legal title for the owners.
Represented a Dutch investment group in the acquisition and development of a 105-hectare property near Jaco Beach. Managed planning, permitting, office operations, staffing, infrastructure construction, and residential development as General Manager until the project changed ownership in 2003.

Represented investors in the Playa Laguna real estate development. Conducted extensive research, coordinated legal action, negotiated a favorable settlement, managed the property, and ultimately oversaw the successful sale of the project in 2018.

Served as Costa Rican representative for Teak Bestand, an association of approximately 230 investors. Negotiated the rescue of an abandoned teak plantation, reorganized its management, and directed operations until investors resumed control.

Advised a Dutch association of investors in a failed vanilla plantation project. Conducted research and developed the legal strategy used by investors to pursue recovery of their losses.
Represented Dutch investors involved in the Triple Garant Fund. Conducted extensive due diligence and coordinated legal action that resulted in the freezing of assets on behalf of investors.

Conducted research, coordinated legal action, and managed asset recovery for a group of Italian real estate investors. Successfully negotiated a settlement without litigation.
Managed several high-end condominiums and luxury villas in Tamarindo, Guanacaste, providing comprehensive property management and operational oversight.

Directed the responsible harvesting and closure of a Gmelina plantation before converting the property into a natural reserve focused on long-term carbon sequestration.
Costa Rican representative and partner for Green Industry Group Germany. Led the acquisition, restoration, and reforestation of more than 100 hectares at the Llano Bonito Nature Reserve, including the planting of over 20,000 native trees and establishment of a Private Forest Reserve.
Owner's representative for Rancho Burrica, assisting Dutch owners with permitting, accounting, operational support, and ongoing management of this beachfront eco-retreat near Pavones.

Appointed Executor and Costa Rican legal representative for the Estate of James Gentry. Managed legal, financial, and administrative matters while protecting and transferring estate assets to the beneficiary in the United States.
Transforming previously cleared land into a thriving private forest reserve through conservation, reforestation, and sustainable land stewardship.
Since 2020, Reinhold y Asociados has served as the Costa Rican representative and project partner for Green Industry Group Germany, overseeing the acquisition, restoration, and long-term management of the Llano Bonito Nature Reserve.
The project encompasses more than 100 hectares, consisting of approximately 65% mature rainforest and 35% previously cleared land that had been burned and degraded. In 2021 the property was officially designated as a Private Forest Reserve.
Working with local professionals and environmental specialists, the project established the required infrastructure, assembled the operational team, and successfully planted more than 20,000 native trees. Reforestation and conservation efforts continue as part of a long-term commitment to biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and responsible land management.
